Position Summary:
Reporting to the Infant Adoption Program Manager, the Adoptive Family Caseworker provides a variety of advanced administrative functions that support critical agency child placement services. The Adoptive Family Caseworker is responsible for coordinating significant aspects of the adoption process including but not limited to; case management and facilitation, scheduling and completion of home assessments using SAFE (structured analysis family evaluation), presentation of conclusions and recommendations, post placement supervision as required and the preparation, completion and distribution of all related documentation. In addition, the Adoptive Family Caseworker must maintain up-to-date situational awareness of all active cases, clients, processes, and events.

In addition, the Adoptive Family Caseworker must maintain up-to-date situational awareness of all active cases, clients, processes, and events.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and conduct formal presentation events that inform potential clients about Adoption Options’ philosophy, experience and services
- Facilitate and/or co-facilitate any preparation/education/information session groups or training as required
- Undertake initial assessment meetings to determine client suitability for the adoption process
- Understanding of birthparent (BP) counseling legal requirements and processes
- Complete all family evaluations with a minimum of 3 joint visits in the clients’ home and conduct individual interviews with each applicant. Complete the assessment in the SAFE format.
- Prepare written family assessment and present to a Program Manager/Placement Supervisor in a timely manner
- Organize all materials and related documents for presentation to the chosen family
- Provide court reports as directed and attend court hearings when necessary
- Provide post-placement support and supervision including a minimum of 3 homes visits within the first six months of supervision. Complete and submit post-placement reports to the court on a quarterly basis, or as directed.
- Track, complete and distribute all placement documents
- Prepare and complete ICPC documentation regarding adoptive families as required
- Maintain up-to-date and thorough client files both through the electronic records system and the hard file as required by state regulations
- Work independently and within a team on special on non-recurring projects as assigned by the Program Manager. These activities may require working with agency clients, assisting co-workers, planning, scheduling and communicating progress both verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to perform “on-call” services as required
- Must be prepared to take intakes and answer questions of prospective clients
Position Requirements: Requirements listed below represent the knowledge/skills/ability required.
- Bachelors Degree in the Social or Behavioral Sciences, Master’s Degree preferred
- A minimum of two years Human Services experience
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred
- Must possess exceptional interpersonal, presentation, time management, attention to detail, and organizational skills
- Be trained and certified in SAFE (structured analysis family evaluation) process or, obtain SAFE certification as soon as practical post hire
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
- An analytical ability is required in order to gather and summarize data for reports and find solutions to a variety of client and agency related situations
- Consistently demonstrate an ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet the current needs of the agency, such as reprioritizing work as necessary
- Demonstrate a proactive approach to responsibilities
- Display a willingness to make decisions; exhibit sound and accurate judgment, support and explain rationale for decisions, include appropriate individuals in decision-making process and make decisions in a timely fashion
- Meet the attendance requirements of the job, including weekends and evenings as directed
- Must have access to reliable transportation and possess a valid unrestricted drivers’ license and must have proof of 100/300/100 current car insurance on any vehicles driven for the agency as frequent local travel will be required, overnight travel possible
- Work within approved budgets as established by the Executive Director
- Be knowledgeable in Microsoft applications

- Intermittent physical activity including bending, reaching and prolonged periods of sitting

- Required to work extended periods of time at a video display terminal with ongoing key board data entry
- Ability to safely and efficiently operate a motor vehicle
- Vision adequate to read correspondence, computer screen, forms, etc.
