Teachers
We offer class presentations to elementary, middle or high school students. These presentations are age-appropriate and geared to the specific course needs. The content and focus may vary, and may include such topics as the concept of adoption, unplanned pregnancies, responsible relationships, the structure and variety of families, positive parenting, child development, the legal process of relinquishment and adoption, current practice in adoption, search and reunion and dispelling the myths around adoption.
Adoption Options also offers in-service training to teachers and other faculty in regard to any adoption-related issues. Agency staff is available to come to school at any time convenient for school staff and at no cost to the participants. Moreover, should a teacher or staff member have particular questions in regard to a specific situation with one of the students, Adoption Options welcomes individual inquiries. Physicians
Adoption Options offers in-service training to physicians, their staff and other medical personnel to enhance their working with patients interested in exploring adoption. This includes potential birth and adoptive parents. This training may include information about the relinquishment process, adoption practice and the laws and protocols surrounding adoption in the state of Colorado . The goal of this training is to empower medical personnel to deal with patients in an informed, fair and unbiased manner. This training is provided by Adoption Options at no cost and at a time and place most convenient for the recipients.
In addition, Adoption Options can offer referrals to other resources in the community. These may include resources for housing, medical and state benefits, therapy, other counseling and practical physical assistance.

Attorneys
If an attorney is contacted in regard to services around a relinquishment or an adoption, Adoption Options can provide a variety of services to facilitate the process. Relinquishment counseling to birthparents involved in an agency placement, a relative placement, an independent or a designated placement, can be provided by experienced, ethical staff. In some cases, relinquishment counseling can be provided even when there is no pending adoption plan. We can work creatively with attorneys in unusual cases to develop strategies that will serve the best interests of children and their families.
For attorneys' clients who may be prospective adoptive parents, Adoption Options can provide family assessments, home circumstances reports, and mandated interviews with children over the age of 12 years. Decision-making counseling can be provided to adoptive parents around a whole wealth of adoption-related issues, including, but not limited to, education, openness, mediation, and adoption as a life-long process.
Services can be provided for both inter- and intra-state adoptions. Staff at Adoption Options is experienced in all aspects of adoption across state lines, including conforming with the requirements of the Interstate Compact for the Placement of Children.

Social Workers and Counselors
Much of the information in the above sections also pertains to social workers and counselors working with clients interested in finding out about adoption, either from the birth parent, adoptive parent, or adoptee perspective. Adoption Options, upon request, will provide brochures and other printed information that may be used to educate professional and clients. Adoption Options will provide in-service education for counseling professionals on all matters relating to adoption. Topics may include relinquishment, family assessment and education, adoption planning and choices, the placement of children, post-finalization services, and search and reunion issues. Adoption Options staff is experienced in speaking to groups of all sizes and is available for statewide and local conference, seminars, workshops and other training forums.
In addition to providing training to counseling professionals. Adoption Options is available to consult not only with workers, but with their clients, individually or jointly, to provide information, additional resources, and, if appropriate, decision-making counseling.
