Flexible Families

Picture
As a Child Placement Agency, our Flexible Families Program licenses, trains, and supports families who provide foster care for children removed from their families of origin, most often due to abuse or neglect.

The families who join Flexible Families are as diverse as the youth they serve. They include couples and single parents; households with or without children or pets; those living in apartments, single-family homes, or multi-generational settings. What they share is a commitment to creating safe, stable, and caring environments where children can heal and grow. Children in the Flexible Families Program have unique needs and paths forward. Some may ultimately need the permanency of an adoptive home, while many will stay temporarily as their families work toward reunification or kinship placement.

Our hope for every child is to experience stability, feel a sense of belonging, and achieve permanency as quickly as possible, with as few transitions as possible. Our hope for every Flexible Family is that they feel prepared, supported, and valued as they open their homes and hearts to these remarkable children.

We typically hold monthly Information Nights to go through the Flexible Families, the process, fees, etc. and to answer initial questions. In addition to attending an Information Night, we also ask that families interested in this program have a one-on-one meeting with a representative from the program. Call or email the agency to find out when the next Information Night will be held and to set up a meeting with a program representative.

" It is a pleasure working with our Flexible Families and supporting them in navigating the ups and downs of trauma-informed parenting. Particularly I enjoy seeing families adapt and apply new skills to meet the unique needs of the child in their care. Each child is unique and each family is unique., so seeing how all of the personalities and strengths fit together is a beautiful part of a family's journey!
